About 60 miles East of Twentynine Palms California, off an aqueduct access road, lies the rifle-range of my youth. Now, converted into a prime astrophotography location. A three hour drive from Orange County California, this site is very dark with only the light dome of Las Vegas visible 140 miles to the North. Many a beer bottle has been sacrificed here - done in with with a variety of firearms. There is some beautiful scenery in the area including little ghost towns and beautiful views. The long deserted shack below features half-full whiskey bottles and a bible on the kitchen table along with all the comforts of home. Less fortunate miners got the stylish RV instead........
